~Thought for the Day~
Every memorable act in history of the world is a triumph of enthusiasm. Nothing great was ever achieved without it because it gives any challenge or any occupation, no matter how frightening or difficult, a new meaning. Without enthusiasm you are doomed to a life of mediocrity but with it you can accomplish miracles.

Ohio caps health-coverage cost
Insurers' premiums limited on policies for individuals with pre-existing conditions. People who pay dearly for health insurance - as much as $1,000 a month - because they have diabetes, cancer, kidney failure or other medical conditions soon will be able to save money.
A new state law took effect at the start of the year capping what insurance companies can charge people with pre-existing health conditions who buy individual policies. They can't be charged more than twice the lowest rate the company charges a person of similar age and gender. And by 2013, the cap will be down to 1 1/2 times the lowest rate, said Carly Glick, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Insurance.
Before this law, some companies charged four times the base rate. The cap is being phased in, Glick said, because health insurers said covering people with existing medical conditions is expensive, and those costs could be passed on to other consumers. Click here to read more about new state law...

New Approach Calls for New Timeline
As President Obama worked to reinvigorate a bipartisan health care reform effort, he indicated that the change of course may potentially extend debate into the spring. This new timeline directly conflicts with the most recent approach taken by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), which focuses more on swift closed-door, partisan talks.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Expands Hospital Disclosure Tool
Think paying over $24,411 is a lot for back surgery? How about paying $52,309 somewhere else?
One procedure can carry different price tags at different facilities. Those differences can increase or decrease members' out-of-pocket costs.
We have recently expanded our ground-breaking tool, Anthem Care Comparison, so that more members across Ohio can view hospital cost and quality information at different facilities throughout the state at rkashmiry.com or Anthem.com. Anthem Care Comparison now includes facilities in the Dayton, Cincinnati, and central Ohio regions, northeastern Ohio counties of Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Summit, Portage, Stark, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana.
Anthem Care Comparison provides total estimated costs associated with all aspects of 35 medical procedures performed at local area hospitals and medical facilities.
Anthem Care Comparison is the only tool to bundle together related services and tests around a specific procedure to determine the total price, giving our members a complete picture of what an entire procedure typically costs.
