Why Doctor’s Don’t Take Vitamin E
Once upon a time, lots of folks…doctors included…rushed out to buy Vitamin E supplements to protect their hearts. But, it turns out that was a mistake because new research shows that Vitamin E won’t reduce your risk of chronic disease in fact, it may even make it worse! And you don’t need to take Vitamin E supplements to prevent deficiency. Simply eat E-rich foods like nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils. Or take a multi-vitamin that should provide you with plenty of Vitamin E.

~Thought for the Day~

thought

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because, someday in life you will have been all of those.

Living Large in America: The Big Picture
It’s said that America is the land of milk and honey. And, it’s showing on our waistlines. Nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese. But being overweight and being obese are not the same. Being overweight refers to an excess of body weight that can come from muscle, bone, fat and/or body water. Being obese, on the other hand, refers to having an unusually high proportion of body fat.
The cost to your health and your wallet
When the pounds add up, you put yourself at a higher risk for specific diseases and conditions. And treating those conditions can be just as costly in insurance premiums, in co pays, in out-of-pocket costs and more. And not just for you. For everyone. These are just a few examples of the costs to American families, employers and the health care system:
- Heart disease related to overweight and obesity is $8.8 billion
- Type 2 diabetes related to overweight and obesity was $98 billion in 2001
- Cancer related to overweight and obesity for breast cancer is $2.9 billion and colon cancer is a total cost of $3.5 billion
Lost workdays, lost productivity
The price of obesity can affect your productivity too. If your employees can’t work because of an illness or disability that came about because of obesity, that’s lost productivity. The cost of lost productivity related to obesity among Americans ages 17-64 is $3.9 billion
